December 04: Singapore Marathon
Where: Orchard Road to St Andrew's Road

The Singapore Marathon attracts some of the world's most seasoned athletes. Spectators come along to soak up the carnival atmosphere and fun runners join in the half marathon, 10K run, 5K Fun Run, and Kids' Dash for under 13s. The route starts on Orchard Road and snakes its way round the city, before meeting a raucous crowd at the finish line on St Andrew's Road.

December 10: ZoukOut
Where: Siloso Beach
When: 20:00 - 08:00
ZoukOut, Singapore's largest dance music festival, keeps trendy crowds partying from dusk till dawn on the palm tree-lined Siloso Beach. The 12-hour music menu is also accompanied by a host of fringe events, roving costumed performers and chill-out areas.

Singapore has a large Christian population and everyone loves to shop so Christmas is understandably an important time of year. Join in festivities with carol signing, church parades and lots of social gatherings.

December 31: New Year Countdown
Where: Marina Bay
When: after dark
Singapore is a hive of celebration on New Year's Eve, with laser lighting, music performances and fireworks illuminating the sky. At Marina Bay, families gather to write New Year wishes on white paper spheres before floating them on the water.
