January events in Singapore include;

Stage Without Borders - talent show at Nanyang Polytechnic (07/01, 15:00-17:00);
Ponggal- harvest festival in Penang Waterfall Carpark (14/01, all day);
Ballet Revolución - modern dance at Esplandade Theatre (10-15/01, from 15:00); 
Chinese New Year – Festival in Chinatown, Singapore (23/01, all day);

January 07: Stage Without Borders
Where: Nanyang Polytechnic
When: 15:00 - 17:00
Stage Without Borders is an all-talent competition for youths to showcase their talents, will be at Nanyang Polytechnic’s Open House!  Youths are encouraged to register themselves on Facebook to upload their videos online. They will then be voted to be onstage. Once in the competition, the contestants will compete to be featured on air.

January 10-15: Ballet Revolución
Where: Esplanade Theatre
When: from 15:00
The Asian Premiere of Ballet Revolución will be held here in Singapore from 10th to 15th January 2012 at Singapore’s prestigious Arts venue THE ESPLANADE THEATRE. The Singapore tour will consist of eight shows Only.

January 14: Ponggal
Where: Hindu temples
When: all day
Pongal is a four-day festival that celebrates harvest and the start of the auspicious month of Thai in the Hindu calendar. The events at Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple in Singapore's Little India district are particularly spectacular. Hindu temples throughout Singapore celebrate Pongal with live music played on drums, clarinets and shells. Celebrations continue in the colourful Campbell Lane bazaar, where visitors can browse for unique handicrafts and enjoy cultural performances.

January 23: Chinese New Year
Where: Singapore Chinatown
When: all day
Chinese New Year is a huge celebration in Singapore as the country boasts a thriving Chinese community. Expect lions, dragons, red lanterns, deliciously fragrant food and a feast for all the senses from dawn until well into the night.
